Welcome to TangoApilado.com, a resource for tango dancers seeking a deeper, more sensual intimate and sustained close embrace connection with their partners through the Tango Milonguero (Apilado) style of tango, coined by Susana Miller as “Tango Milonguero”. Jonathan y Olivia teach Tango Milonguero (Apilado) Style at various locations throughout the Bay Area, United States and Europe in private, semi-private and group sessions where students receive quality personalized instruction in every workshop.
Note: During some performances, depending on the tango community, Jonathan and Olivia may incorporate a fusion of the Milonguero (apilado), Salon and Nuevo styles.
However, in their workshops and private lesson environment, Jonathan and Olivia focus on teaching tango milonguero style. Jonathan and Olivia are also helping salon dancers to increase their repertoire to include the tango milonguero (apilado) style of tango, thus facilitating a deeper, richer connection while improving the depth and breadth of one's tango and opening the door for possible invitations to the Encuentros.
Jonathan y Olivia have been teaching and performing Argentine tango together in the US, Canada and Europe since 2006. They have also hosted numerous local milongas, national encuentros, and have hosted internationally renown guest teachers at various locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Jonathan y Olivia, Argentine tango instructors, teach Argentine Tango incorporating an advanced level of body mechanics movement and technique. Together, they developed their method from a lifetime of training from varied backgrounds incorporating martial arts, music, Pilates, Gyrotonics, Gyrokinesis, ballet, and tango instruction.
Whether beginning or advanced, students of Jonathan y Olivia receive contemporaneous instruction focusing on detailed technique, perfecting the walk (from which all tango moves originate) breathing, pauses and the intimate sustained close embrace in the milonguero style with particular detail to internal and external nuances not perceptible to the third party observer.
Jonathan and Olivia demonstrate clean lines and technique in their Argentine tango performance at Union Square in San Francisco in support of Bay Area Tango, a non-profit tango organization, which promotes Argentine tango in the San Francisco Bay Area.
To quote Gavito in his later years: "To dance slowly and beautifully is the most difficult tango to dance well." This is because it requires excellent walking technique and balance to beautifully execute slow and sensual movements in the milonguero (apilado) style -- which incorporates a sensual and intimate sustained close embrace.
