WORKSHOP TOPICS

Workshops limited to 30 dancers per workshop. Dancers may sign up for both workshops.

WORKSHOP NO. 1 --  Learn the technique to properly utilize the adductors and the inner ball to maintain grounding and balance while walking and turning on the forward axis, utililizing the rhomboid muscles for an unforgetable embrace -- and apply this knowlede to your tango movements creating a sustained lead and follow on your forward axis and a more lucious connection in your dance.  

Giros: Maintaining circularity in a sustained embrace on your forward axis in a tight space (dancing on four tiles) with change of direction, and variations entering and exiting the turns.

WORKSHOP NO. 2 -- Strictly Gavito -- To quote Gavito: "To dance slowly and beautifully is the most difficult tango to dance well."  Gavito's signature "Spiral Cross", learned by many and mastered by few, is the most sensual and intimate style of cross witnessed in Argentine tango, reducing movements of leading and following the cross into a delicate simplistic elegance.

 Learn the technique to internally create and release torsion in your body. In this workshop, you will incorporate this technique into what you have learned in Workshops 1, building and releasing torsion throughout your movements.

Local Taxis: Taxis are plentiful and inexpensive in Centro San Miguel de Allende. You can take a taxi to most locations in or near Centro San Miguel de Allende for 60-80 pesos ($3.35 - $4.45)

UBER: Uber is less expensive than the already inexpensive taxi fares.

Registered single followers will paired with single leaders.

Currency: Easiest method is to use your debit card at any ATM to get Mexican pesos. If you exchange dollars at the bank or at a currency exchange, you will need two picture ids such as a passport and a driver license.

When paying for food at restaurants using your credit card or debit card, we recommend paying the tip in cash. Just say "Propina en effectivo" (tip in cash) and they will charge your card for the amount of the bill only.

Quality of food is equal to the best restaurants in the US at every level, except the cost will be 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a comparable meal in the US.

SMA HAS OVER 200 VERY GOOD RESTAURANTS, ALL COMPETING WITH QUALITY FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT.

Safety: Crime is virtually non-existent in SMA. There are no bad actors standing on corners. A female can feel safe walking through town at 10pm by herself.
