Jonathan Yamauchi and Olivia Levitt are looking forward to hosting their 16th national private and invitational Encuentro this August 12-14, 2022 taking place at the Santa Rosa Moose Lodge located in beautiful Sonoma County at 3559 Airway Drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.

 

Our DJ lineup features Jae Grisham (Durham, North Carolina), Sohrab Soltani (Charleston South Carolina), Mark Sakowski (Baltimore Maryland), and Jonathan Yamauchi (San Francisco, California).

 

As organizers, Jonathan and Olivia carefully planned four milongas over the weekend scheduled within time frames that will provide everyone with time to enjoy dancing each milonga from start to finish, and have some restful time between to relax and/or socialize.

 

Our focus is on quality of time, not quantity. As such, please know that our DJs invest countless hours preparing and building the flow of their playlists strategically from the very first to the very last tanda. Enjoyment is enhanced for everyone who is present throughout each milonga. For those who remember our earlier Encuentros, nearly all of our Attendees were seated at the start of each milonga and stayed till the end for a complete and fulfilling experience. We hope all will honor our DJs and stay till the end of each milonga.

  • Four nationally renowned Encuentro DJs playing the best of Golden Era Tango
  • Sunday luncheon (11:00am - 1:00pm) at Paradise Sushi and Grill Japanese Restaurant, 4100 Montgomery Drive Suite C, Santa Rosa, CA 95405
  • Meet & Greet featuring authentic Pupasa appetizers
  • Sprinkled weekend culinary delights during the Friday milonga prepared by our alternative caterer throughout the remainder of the Encuentro weekend.
  • Excellent selection of award winning wines
  • Pellegrino, spa water, coffee, tea and tea time treats served throughout the weekend
  • Authentic Oaxacan tamales served during our Saturday evening Gala Milonga.

             Wine Country Encuentro 2022! 

 

Wine Country Encuentro 2022 is a private national invitational event for advance level like-minded milonguero style dancers who mindfully strive to maintain a sustained connection, a silent conversation, highest levels of consciousness, excellent navigational skills and adhere to the codigos of tango. We welcome those who are invited to enjoy three days of dancing, dining and bonding over traditional golden era tango music played by some of the best DJs in the nation.

Secure your registration by mailing a check in the amount of $205 to P.O. Box 70683, Richmond, CA 94807, payable to Olivia Levitt, or send us a PayPal to yamagatotango@gmail.com using the "send money to friends" option (to avoid being assessed PayPal fees). With either remittance option, please provide email addresses for yourself and your registered partner to receive our status updates. Single milongueras without a partner will be placed on a waiting list pending available single leaders who register.

 

Policies

 

  • Jonathan y Olivia will adhere to governmental policy prevailing at the time of our encuentro. By registering for Wine Country Encuentro 2022!, Attendee unconditionally holds Jonathan y Olivia harmless from any liability arising from or participating in Encuentro Poema.
  • Recommending other Attendees: If invited Attendees would like to refer fellow milongueros who have not received our invitation, and who would be good candidates for our Encuentro, we will consider admitting them based on your personal recommendation.
  • Registration fees are non-transferable.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable after May 15, 2022.
  • Note: Single followers who study privately with Jonathan y Olivia will be given preference in the registration process. For refinement of your tango milonguero technique prior to the Encuentro, please contact Olivia for a private lesson at 650.834.5658.

Covid-19 policy change: Since everyone now has Covid-19 home test kits, our policy for Wine Country Encuentro 2022! will simply require proof of a negative Covid-19 test result self-administered within 48 hours of our event, OR proof of vaccination. We will continue to take temperatures prior to every milonga and adhere to Sonoma County Covid-19 regulations prevailing at the time of our encuentro.

About Santa Rosa, CA
If you're into wine-tasting, a weekend in Santa Rosa is certain to be satisfying. Charles M. Shultz Museum
View the largest collection of original Peanuts art work in the world at the Charles M. Schulz Museum. Visitors can laugh at Schulz’s original comic strips, learn about the art of cartooning and Schulz’s role in its development, view a re-creation of Schulz’s art studio, watch animated Peanuts specials and documentaries in the theater, and draw cartoons in the hands-on education room. The Museum features a Peanuts tile mural (made from comic strips), a wrapped Snoopy doghouse, morphing Snoopy, Snoopy labyrinth, Kite-Eating tree, and three exhibition galleries that change every 6 months.
 
 
 
 

  • Day Trip, visit Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville north of Santa Rosa.  There is a neat “Movie Gallery” which is a museum of memorabilia from his films; really pretty neat! www.francisfordcoppolawinery.com

  •  Google Healdsburg Square and Sonoma Square – both great tourist visits to the center of town in Healdsburg and Sonoma.

  • For those who love the water, get out to the Pacific Ocean.  Take an extra day and drive out River Road to the mouth of the Russian River and turning south on Hwy 1, come to Goat Rock , drive down to the parking area and then walk out to the mouth of the river and see the seals.  They could get there feet wet but all the beaches on the Sonoma Coast are not swimming beaches because of the rip tides and undertow.  They could then drive down the coast to Bodega Bay and back to Santa Rosa through Sebastopol.

  

 

We know that these are difficult times that we live in and realize that there remains a lot of uncertainty in our lives. We would like to be able to be totally flexible with our guests but unfortunately this is not possible in that we are also contracting for services that involve monetary commitment and making promises to our guests that we want to ensure that we can keep. For the above mentioned reasons, there are no refunds for any reason. At the option of the organizers, credits may be given for cancellation with good reason prior to  May 15th but after that date future credits will only be given for an unforeseen government shutdown or a documented case of Covid or Flu immediately prior to the scheduled arrival. We greatly appreciate your understanding and strive to create a memorable tango event in these less than favorable times.
